Early 2010s (approx. 2011-2012):

  • Abby Choi's First Marriage: Abby Choi marries Alex Kwong at the age of 18. They have two children together.

Mid-2010s:

  • Abby Choi & Alex Kwong Divorce: Abby Choi and Alex Kwong divorce after a few years of marriage.

  • Abby Choi's Financial Support to Kwong Family: Despite the divorce, Abby Choi maintains a close and financially supportive relationship with the Kwong family, providing for their comfort. February 2023 - The Crime & Immediate Aftermath:

  • February 21, 2023 (Tuesday afternoon): Abby Choi's Abduction and Murder:Anthony Kwong, Abby's trusted chauffeur and former brother-in-law, picks her up from her home in Kadoorie Hill, under the pretense of taking her to pick up her daughter.

  • Police believe Abby is attacked in the seven-seater vehicle driven by Anthony, sustaining a fatal blow to the back of her head, rendering her unconscious.

  • The van travels directly to a rented village house at 29 Lung Mei Tsuen in Tai Po, arriving around 3:12 PM. This house was meticulously prepared with tarps and tools by the Kwong family.

  • Abby Choi's body is dismembered and processed in the Tai Po house. Parts are refrigerated, and other parts are cooked in large soup pots to destroy evidence.

  • February 22, 2023 (Wednesday morning): Missing Person Report Filed: Abby Choi's concerned family files a missing person's report after she fails to pick up her daughter and cannot be reached.

  • February 22-23, 2023: Initial Investigation & Deception:Hong Kong Police begin investigations.

  • Anthony Kwong provides a misleading alibi, claiming he dropped Abby off mid-journey.

  • Dread grows among Abby's family and the public as her disappearance receives media attention.

  • Police accelerate the investigation, pulling CCTV footage and analyzing cell phone data.

  • February 24, 2023 (Friday afternoon): Discovery of Remains & Initial Arrests:Detectives from the Kowloon West regional crime unit execute a search warrant at 29 Lung Mei Tsuen, Tai Po.

  • Police discover a scene of "methodical butchery," finding human remains (two legs) in a refrigerator and human tissue in soup pots, along with dismemberment tools (meat slicer, electric saw, cleavers).

  • Kwong Kau (the patriarch), Anthony Kwong (the driver), and Jenny Li Sui-heung (the matriarch) are arrested.

  • February 25, 2023 (Saturday afternoon): Alex Kwong's Arrest:A citywide manhunt for Alex Kwong (the ex-husband) culminates.

  • Police, acting on a tip, ambush and arrest Alex Kwong at Tung Chung Development Pier on Lantau Island, where he was allegedly waiting for a speedboat to flee Hong Kong. He is found with HK$500,000 in cash and HK$4 million worth of luxury watches.

February 2023 - Judicial Proceedings Begin:

  • February 27, 2023 (Monday): First Court Appearance:Alex Kwong, Anthony Kwong, and Kwong Kau are formally charged with murder.

  • Jenny Li Sui-heung is charged with perverting the course of public justice.

  • All four are denied bail and remanded in custody.

  • February 28, 2023 (Tuesday): Landfill Search: Police launch a massive, but ultimately fruitless, search operation at the North East New Territories Landfill in Ta Kwu Ling for Abby Choi's missing torso and hands.

  • February 26, 2023 (Sunday): Discovery of Skull: Abby Choi's skull is found submerged in one of the soup pots at the Tai Po house. Forensic examination later reveals a fatal blow to the back of the skull.

December 2023:

  • Additional Charge Filed: The Department of Justice files an additional charge of "preventing the lawful burial of a body" against the three male defendants (Kwong Kau, Alex Kwong, and Anthony Kwong).

June 2024:

  • Alex Kwong Sentenced for Old Charges: Alex Kwong is sentenced to three and a half years in prison for his earlier theft and bail-jumping charges, ensuring his continued incarceration regardless of the murder trial.

June 2025:

She had four children: two with Alex Kwong and two with Chris Tam.

The Kwong Family (Primary Suspects/Accused):

  • Kwong Kau: (65 years old) The patriarch of the Kwong family, former Hong Kong police sergeant (resigned in 2005 under suspicion of rape). Police believe he was the alleged mastermind behind Abby Choi's murder, motivated by "Status Preservation Rage" due to her decision to sell the Kadoorie Hill apartment that was legally registered in his name. He allegedly rented the Tai Po village house used as the murder scene. Charged with murder.

  • Alex Kwong Kong-chi: (28 years old) Abby Choi's ex-husband and father of two of her children. A man with a history of crime, including a gold investment scam (2014-2015) for which he jumped bail in 2015, making him a fugitive. He was jobless and entirely financially dependent on Abby. Police allege his motive was "Dependency-Driven Homicide" to gain indirect control over her vast estate through his children. Charged with murder.

  • Anthony Kwong Kong-kit: (31 years old) Alex Kwong's older brother and Abby Choi's personal chauffeur and trusted confidant, whom she affectionately called "sis." He was also financially reliant on Abby. Police allege he played a pivotal role in luring Abby to the Tai Po house by picking her up in his van, where she was likely attacked. Charged with murder.

  • Jenny Li Sui-heung: (63 years old) The matriarch of the Kwong family, mother of Alex and Anthony. She had a history of financial failure, declared bankrupt in 2017. She is accused of "perverting the course of public justice" for allegedly lying to investigators and destroying evidence after the murder to protect her sons.

  • Irene Pun: An accomplice who assisted Alex Kwong's escape attempt. Arrested in Shenzhen and handed over to Hong Kong authorities. Convicted of conspiracy to obstruct justice and sentenced to six months in prison.
